Why
In 2009, 36 volunteers dedicated more than 2,400 hours of service to EFry and its clients - an increase of more than 700 hours from 2008. We rely on the time and amazing talents of these volunteers to help us continue to assist those who need it most.
How
As a volunteer with EFry you will have many opportunities to participate and grow. In 2009 our volunteers:
- engaged in one-on-one sessions and group workshops
- attended committee meetings
- helped clients gain employment, access retraining and further education
- accessed information about legal processes on behalf of clients
- referred clients to agencies that offer legal representation
- participated in First Aid and CPR training
- learned/improved their communication skills and coping
- strategies
- helped tackle literacy
- enjoyed recreational activities
- clarified government procedures and applications
- assisted incarcerated women with their practical needs
- participated in holistic healing
- tried drumming and singing
- accessed medical treatment options
- helped clients find food and clothing
- provided funds to cover transportation and babysitting costs
- offered hairstyling and other confidence-boosting services
- helped clients develop more positive behaviours and attitudes
- improved school attendance of program participants
- provided work experience to program participants
