Adult Court Legal information Program
The Adult Court Legal information Program provides two valuable services: (1) To assist individuals appearing in First Appearance Provincial Court by providing information on legal and community resources. (2) To assist women and girls in navigating the various areas of the legal system by providing legal information, legal resources, and support.
Significance
The Adult Court Legal Information Specialist works with a team of volunteers to assist any individual appearing in First Appearance Provincial Court, whether male or female, by explaining court procedures as well as the legal and community resources available to them. Consequently, accused individuals are able to make educated decisions on how to handle their criminal charges.
Additionally, the Adult Court Legal Information Specialist is equipped to provide information and one-on-one support to women and girls with the following:
- Criminal, family, civil, traffic/by-law court
- Warrants
- Fines (enrolling in fine options, requesting extensions)
- Restraining orders
- Pardons
- Victims assistance
